In June this year I was honoured to spend almost a week with some of my closest gal pals for my hen do in Ibiza, it truly was one of the most amazing, fun-filled times of my life to date!
I had little involvement in the planning of our trip, other than knowing the destination, and who was going, the rest was left in the capable hands of my maid of honour and the help of my other bridesmaids – and what an amazing job they did! I had such an incredible time that just reminiscing about it, makes me well up with happiness.
We flew out to Ibiza from Luton on Saturday and returned early hours the following Friday, with a few leaving earlier in the week. We stayed bang in the middle of the island close to Amnesia and Privilege, in a gorgeous private villa with pool to accommodate all thirteen of us.
This post isn’t going to go into detail about what we got up to, “what happens on the hen do, stays on the hen do” – jokes! No really, this post is about sharing with you some of my favourite places that we visited during our stay.
Space is Ibiza’s true super club and due to a change in management, this is the last year that Space will operate in the way we know and love! We went to the iconic Sundays at Space, arriving at midnight and dancing to the very end , thanks to the amazing 2ManyDJs and Tensnake. Space is my all time favourite Ibiza dance spot, it’s located just opposite Ushuaia and has a laid back vibe, packed with people just wanting to lose themselves dancing to Ibiza’s iconic beat. The venue is split over five spaces, including a open terrace for when you need a cool down! My fave area is the Terraza, where in previous visits I’ve seen Groove Armada on the decks. Ticket prizes can start anywhere from 30 euros, and a gin and tonic is going to set you back almost 20, but it’s Ibiza so you better expect this.
For nights when you’ve packed your dancing shoes away, or if you fancy dinner or drinks before heading to Pacha, you must head to Ibiza town. Imagine cobbled lanes and beautiful white-washed Spanish buildings and you’ll be right. Amongst the many shops selling trinkets and gorgeous clothes, are lots of amazing restaurants, including Plaza del Sol, where we had dinner on our second night watching the sunset and dining on the most delicious risotto and steak, and sipping warm wine. The restaurant is situated at the very top of Dalt Vila aka Upper Town, so expect a bit of a climb, but it’s well worth it just for the far-reaching views of the island and the marina below.
Another must, is to watch the sunset on the aptly named Sunset Strip. I would not recommend heading to San Antonio for any other reason, it really is pretty grim but the small strip where you’ll find the well-known Cafe Del Mar and Cafe Mambo is well worth the visit. We booked a table for dinner at Savannah on our third night. Food is simple, pub style grub. I opted for a burger, which was cooked just under medium, perfect for me and delicious, and we washed it down with cocktails, watching the fire dancers on the shore and listening the melodic beats that give the venues there, their name.
If you like sushi then you must, must, must pay a visit to Bambuddah! It’s located just to the middle west of the island so you’ll need to take a taxi to get there. As soon as you arrive at the oriental-style setting, there is an air of tranquillity. The cocktail menu is superb, but watch out as they’re a little strong! Try the Erotic, an exotic blend of rum, lime, mint, cinnamon and strawberry.
We visited here on our fourth night and made the most of our spinning table to order a mountain of sushi and Thai inspired dishes for us all to share. The food is of impeccable quality, as is the service, which you pay for. But I don’t mind spending the money, when it’s so good. The Malaysian Tiger Prawn Curry and Bambuddah Sashimi are so good!
This was the fourth time I have been to Ibiza and it certainly won’t be the last. Each time I go back I fall a little more in love with this island, it dances to it’s own heavenly beat; there’s something beautiful in the air, and the water, that feels magical!
